Volunteer Opportunities
The Boston Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta is seeking volunteers for the programs below. If you are interested please email service@bostondst.org with your name and contact information. We are especially looking for male volunteers to assist with EMBODI.
The Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy
This program is for girls in grades 5- 8 and seeks to expose young girls to math, science and technology in a fun and exciting way. The program also includes modules related to personal growth and development, and provides the girls with opportunities to improve their leadership skills through scholarship, service, and sisterhood exercises.
The Dr. Jeanne L. Noble Delta GEMS Institute
This program is for young ladies in grades 9 to12 and seeks to expose young ladies to activities and resources that promote personal growth, and academic success. The national curriculum includes fun and enriching activities focused on cultural awareness, self esteem, health & wellness, college readiness, public service, and social action.
Leadership Development Institute
This program is for young ladies in grades 11 and 12. LDI modules focus on leadership development skills including sisterhood, healthy lifestyles, civic engagement, image building, and college preparation. Each participant will receive a scholarship based upon her participation, and the program concludes with a cotillion.
EMBODI
This program is for young men ages13-17. The chapter currently partners with the Boston Area Health Education Center. This program seeks to restore and build the historical intellect, confidence, and emotional awareness of African-American young men. The modules include: real talk round table discussions, fitness awareness, leadership development and community service.
